File cabinet drawer removal is easiest when the drawer is empty. To remove the drawers easily, it’s best to start with the top drawer. First, pull the empty drawer out of the cabinet until it stops. Next, locate the horizontal levers on both sides of the drawer where they connect to the hang rail bars, or runners. With one hand on either side of the drawer, pull the sides of the drawer toward you while pushing the tab on the lever down. It should easily slide out. Repeat as necessary.
