For the first time, we held a week long LoadUp spirit week! This week included two community service projects, a potluck, and theme days for employees to dress up.
LoadUp’s Community Clean Up Project
Our Loaders aren’t the only ones who are helping out local communities by using eco-friendly disposal options. Our corporate office in Atlanta is located near a tributary stream that feeds into the Chattahoochee River. While the Chattahoochee is known for fun days of floating, it also has a reputation of being dirty due to local pollution.
As a junk removal company, we are passionate to finding solutions to fixing the ongoing battle with pollution throughout the nation. So when the opportunity for us to pickup a mattress, mattress topper, or appliance from our local stream we were eager to help out.
During the 2021 annual “Sweep the Hooch” event, held by Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, they collected 35 tons of trash and litter. Yes, that’s right in just one year they were able to collect 35 tons of trash from the river.

River Clean Up Project
Many of our employees enjoy taking walks by the river during their breaks and have seen the amount of trash that has built up near the river. Our Sustainability Coordinator, Miracle Wilson, put together a schedule and time slots for everyone to sign up to help clean up the river.
Starting a 9:30 AM we split up each department and took 30 minutes shifts cleaning different areas of the stream to help reduce the pollution that ends up in the Chattahoochee.
We put on gloves and got trash bags and were off cleaning away. From a pile of water bottles, telephone cords, all the way to half of a broom we were looking for any trash we could find to help out the river. At the end of the day we filled up more than 10 trash bags and about 50 pounds of trash.
LoadUp’s Canned Food Drive
The Center for Family Resources is a local, Cobb County based organization that works to end the cycle of poverty by offering support to families in need through education, short term housing, and more.
They collect non-perishable food donations as well as other essentials such as paper towels, toilet paper, and toothbrushes.
So for our second project, we held a canned and boxed food drive. Our employees were encouraged to bring in food for us to donate to the The Center for Family Resources.

LoadUp Spirit Week
To get into the spirit at the LoadUp office, we switched it up this past week by making each day of the week a different theme. We wanted to not only give back but also let our team show out their style!
Monday: Tie Dye Day
We started the week off with a tie-dye/neon day. Employees were encouraged to wear their best tie dye or the brightest color they owned.
Tuesday: Star Wars Day
This Tuesday happened to land on May 4th, so it wouldn’t be right to not make it a Star Wars themed day. Employees were encouraged to dress decked out in their star wars gear or to show up dressed in their favorite decade!
Wednesday: Cinco de Mayo Potluck
On Wednesday employees signed up to bring something into the office for a Cinco de Mayo potluck. From chips and guacamole to homemade taquitos we got to enjoy each others company while also enjoying some delicious food.
Thursday: Jersey Day
Better known in the office as Jersey Thursday, we dedicated this day to showing off our favorite teams.
Friday: LoadUp Spirit Day
We finished the week off strong by wearing all of our favorite LoadUp swag!
All in all our first LoadUp spirit and volunteer week was a success and we are looking forward to next year to celebrate again!
