Solid Waste Services does not collect building material, construction or demolition waste, and it will not take debris left behind by a contractor or generated at rental and commercial properties. That material belongs at a permitted disposal or recycling facility.
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners hold Freon that a certified technician must recover first, and Georgia scrap metal dealers routinely refuse units without proof of recovery. Never try to release or drain refrigerant yourself; that is a federal violation.
Atlanta's bulk program excludes tires and auto parts, and Georgia has banned whole tires from landfills since 1994. Electronics carry lead and mercury and stay out of city carts, so both go to hard to recycle drop off options.
Georgia bars grass and yard trimmings from most municipal landfills, so Atlanta collects them separately. Cut limbs to four inches thick and four feet long, keep bags under 35 pounds, and anything past twenty bags becomes scheduled bulk.

Most haulers, including LoadUp, cannot take hazardous materials — paint, chemicals, propane tanks, medical waste, or ammunition.
